For Such a Time as This

I'm traveling out of town to speak at a women's event next weekend, and I'm really looking forward to meeting this group of women and getting to know them.

The topic is Esther, and when I got the call a couple of months ago, I started digging in immediately. I love the story of Esther. There's so much to learn from one of only two books in the Bible that never speaks of God directly. His name is never used, yet his providence is undeniable.

The theme verse for the event is the biggie that we all know:
Esther 2:14b-- And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?

The THIS stuck out to me like a…I don't know, something that sticks out. And punches you in the face.

All the planning, all the heartache, all the drama leading up to that moment, was all to prepare her for THIS.

We are all in some kind of position. Whether you're a full-time student, have your own business, are divorced, a single parent, a homemaker, a widow, a pastor's wife, or something else altogether, God wants to use you.
We're so good at comparing ourselves to others. We think we know better than God.
"I should be married already."
"Why can they have kids and we can't?"
"Why can't I find a job?"
"She gets to stay home with her kids all day. That's so easy."
"I'm so much better at that. They should've asked me."

I could definitely come up with a list of reasons to play the victim card, and believe me I have at times. But I've found that I'm so much more effective on every level when I'm not feeling sorry for myself,  not comparing myself to others that I think have it better, and trusting that God is so much bigger than me.
How we respond to where God has us will determine where He takes us next.

Who knows? But perhaps you have come to your position for such a time as THIS.
So, what is your 'THIS'?
